About

Every Children's Day, the grounds around the ruins of Nagashino Castle hold a festival in memory of the soldiers on both sides who died in the Battle of Nagashino. Thousands of banners printed with the crests of the commanders involved flutter over the site as a memorial service is held. In full armor, a musket corps fires matchlock guns, and there are also Nagashino battle drums and archery displays. Watch for the procession of people dressed as warlords and princesses, which walks about 2 kilometers. Food stalls add to the bustle. In 2026 the festival was held for the sixty-first time. Roads near the site are closed on the day, so park at the temporary lot at Fureai Park Horai and ride the free shuttle bus.
