About
Along a prefectural road in Ogata Village, rapeseed flowers bloom for 11 kilometres on the 'cherry and rapeseed road', set off by the cherry trees and black pines planted beside them. The festival is timed for the peak bloom, usually from mid-April to early May. In the first half, events such as hands-on science crafts for families and sightseeing bus tours take place around the Kata no Mise farmers' market and the Ogata Reclamation Museum. In the second half, the action moves to the field north of Hotel Sun Rural Ogata, with the much-loved mini train rides, rapeseed flower picking, play equipment for children and plenty of food trucks. The village also has rapeseed fields covering 1.8 hectares in total.
