About

On August 13, fireworks rise from both shores of the Kanmon Straits in a joint display by Moji in Kitakyushu and Shimonoseki in Yamaguchi Prefecture. Over the lit-up channel, 2026 plans called for about 7,500 shells from Moji and about 10,500 from Shimonoseki, roughly 18,000 in all. The 2026 show ran on Thursday, August 13, from 7:35 pm to 8:50 pm, with the Moji fireworks from 8:00 pm to 8:30 pm. The Moji venue is around the Nishikaigan waterfront, about 5 minutes on foot from JR Mojiko Station. There is nowhere to park cars or bicycles, so take the train or bus, and be aware that there is no free viewing spot near Mojiko Station.
