About
This festival in Kurabuchi, Takasaki, remembers Oguri Kozukenosuke Tadamasa, a shogunate official with deep ties to the city. The organizer, the Oguri Kozukenosuke Memorial Association, aims to share his achievements and encourage an understanding of history grounded in fact. Oguri is also the lead figure of NHK's 2027 historical drama. The day is split between two venues. At the Kurabuchi Gymnasium there is an opening ceremony, a performance by local junior high students and a lecture; the ceremony and lecture require advance registration. At Tozenji Temple, which co-hosts, the grounds and main hall host an Oguri karuta game, a market with local produce and books about Oguri, a graveside memorial, a new Noh play titled "Oguri," a concert and a rice-cake throw.
