About
Dreamination is the largest illumination in Hiroshima and lights up the city's winter nights. Running since 2002, it fills Peace Boulevard and the surrounding downtown streets with light works based on a fairy-tale theme. From the 2026 season the dates have shifted: the lights now come on on the first Friday of December and stay up until the day of the national men's ekiden relay in late January, a change meant to keep people strolling downtown longer. Previously it generally ran from November 17 to January 3. The 2026 season lasts 52 days, December 4 to January 24. The displays glow nightly from 17:30 to 22:30, starting at 18:00 on the first evening. Viewing is free, and Fukuromachi tram stop is about a two-minute walk away. The organizer is the Hiroshima Light-Up Project Executive Committee, with the city of Hiroshima as its secretariat.
