About
This is the annual festival of the Sakagai Jizo, a guardian statue enshrined at Eisho-in Temple in Morioka's Zaimokucho district and known as a patron of prosperous business. The festival is held together with the Yo-ichi, one of Morioka's best-known markets. Alongside a visit to the Jizo, you can enjoy a range of stage performances and a mochi-throwing event, browse the market and soak up the neighbourhood atmosphere. Enquiries are handled by the Zaimokucho shopping street association. It offers a friendly, local slice of summer in central Morioka.
