About
This summer fireworks show lights up the harbor of the port city of Maizuru. It is run by a committee of the city, the chamber of commerce, the tourism association and other local groups. In 2026 it was held on July 26 along the East Maizuru waterfront, opening with a big starmine barrage, followed by a series of starmines and a grand finale. Food trucks and stalls line Hama Ryokuchi park, serving dishes such as horumon udon and nikujaga stew. Earlier in the day there was a community rowing regatta, and the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force Maizuru Band played before the fireworks. Roads around the venue are closed during the event.
