About
Matsushima, one of Japan's Three Most Scenic Views, celebrates oysters, the signature taste of a Miyagi winter, with a festival held every year on the first Sunday of February. In 2020 it ran from 10:00 to 14:00 on the Green Square by the Matsushima waterfront, with bowls of oyster soup for 200 yen (while they lasted), oysters for sale and tasting corners for other local seafood and mountain produce. That year it was held alongside the Miyagi Fresh Sake Festival, when visitors strolled the shops, hotels and inns of the Matsushima waterfront sampling Miyagi sake.
