About
Omura Park, ranked among Japan's top 100 cherry blossom spots, holds a festival while its trees are in bloom. Under the name Sugar Road (Nagasaki Kaido) Omura Sweets Festival "Sakura Cafe," Japanese and Western confectioners from Omura and other towns along the old Nagasaki Kaido highway bring their signature sweets to sell. The real treat is enjoying blossoms and something sweet at the same time in a park tinted pink. There are stage events, plus a ceremony that names that year's Omura Flower Ambassadors. Pick up a cherry blossom map and use it to wander from tree to tree. Inquiries go to the Omura City Tourism and Convention Association. From JR Omura Station, take a bus for about 10 minutes and get off at the Shiyakusho-mae stop.
