About

Kameyama Hachimangu Shrine in Sasebo holds its autumn festival every year from November 1 to November 3. On November 1, the outbound procession, called Okudari, sets off from the shrine with three mikoshi portable shrines, a lion, the chief priest riding a sacred horse, and dances offered by the participating neighborhoods. It heads along National Route 204 and through the Yonkacho and Sankacho covered arcades to the temporary shrine set up in Matsuura Park. On November 3, the return procession, Onobori, follows the same route in reverse, from Matsuura Park back to the shrine. Watching is free of charge. Drivers should use the paid parking lots nearby. In 2026 the dates are again November 1 to November 3.
