About
At the end of summer, the shopping streets of Suibara in Agano come alive for this festival. Local kagura troupes open proceedings with a dance-off, and in front of a temporary stage beside the old Suibara Magistrate Office, kagura and lion dancers perform together in the tomomai. After dark a folk dance procession moves down the shopping street, and then comes The Toro Kibu, when lanterns are slammed head-on into each other, the rowdiest moment of the festival. Everything happens on the road from the Motomachi shopping street to the magistrate office; drivers are directed to park at Agano City Hall.
