About
In early June, Honjo in Saiki holds a festival for its Genji fireflies. At Donoma Kabuchi, their light ripples over the river in waves. The festival is based at Honjo Gymnasium and the surrounding area, with stage events and a night market of local products starting in the early evening. Lanterns light the walking path from the venue to the firefly spot. The fireflies are said to be at their peak around 8 pm. Parking is tight, so visitors are asked to share cars.
