About
On a Sunday in early March, Shibukawa Beach in Tamano holds a festival in memory of the monk Saigyo Hoshi, based on a local tale that he once stopped on this shore. There are stories about Saigyo and a stamp rally around places tied to him; in 2026 the first 250 rally finishers got Saigyo udon and could try a prize-draw lottery. You will also find origami workshops and a life-size cutout of Saigyo. Entry is free, and it goes ahead in light rain. Buses bound for Shibukawa run from JR Okayama Station and JR Uno Station. For inquiries, contact the Tamano City Tourism Association.
