About
For two days every Golden Week, music spills across central Takatsuki, and every venue is free. You can hear performances in the halls of the Takatsuki Castle Park Arts and Culture Theater, in station plazas, at an elementary school, on a department store rooftop, on street corners and inside shops, with food stalls and a flea market on the side. Volunteers of all ages, from young people to seniors, plan and prepare everything themselves. Funding comes from donations, support from local businesses and shops, and sales of the "Jazz T" shirt, whose design is picked by open competition each year. The festival began in 1999 with the aim of making Takatsuki "a fun town overflowing with music."
