About
Takatsuki's much-loved summer festival fills two days on the first weekend of August. People dance the bon odori to the Takatsuki Ondo, known for its "Takatsuki ee ja nai ka, so ja nai ka" refrain, and there is also the Takatsuki Wave dance, parades, children's portable shrines and lots of food stalls. The festival is split into three zones: the Shopping Street Area including Johoku-dori, the Street Area around the Takatsuki Castle Park Arts and Culture Theater and Daiichi Junior High School, and the Village Area at Toen Elementary School. The road outside Daiichi Junior High's main gate becomes a stage for dancing and performances. The Takatsuki Matsuri Promotion Association organizes it.
