About
For 2 days from the second Saturday of May every year, the whole of Okinoshima in the Oki Islands joins in this island festival, with events such as Shigesa dancing and the Yatai-mura stalls. A key draw is the Oki Shigesa-bushi National Contest in the main hall of the Oki Cultural Hall, about 5 minutes from Saigo Port; seats are unreserved and there is an admission fee. The festival grounds are about a 2-minute walk from Saigo Port, so you can join in right after arriving. Inquiries go to the Okinoshima Tourism Association.
