About
Mashiko, a town famous for its pottery, holds a pottery fair in spring and autumn; this is the autumn edition. Running since 1966, the autumn fair lasts several days around Culture Day in early November, with venues all over town centered on the Jonaizaka and Sayado districts. About 50 shops and more than 800 tents sell everything from traditional Mashiko ware to cups, plates and other everyday pieces, as well as art works. In the tents you can talk face to face with emerging potters and kiln artisans while you pick out your favorites. Besides ceramics, local farm produce and specialty goods are for sale.
