When the cherry blossoms come out, Minatoyama Park in Yonago's Nishimachi area holds a flower-viewing festival. Lanterns large and small are placed throughout the park and switched on after dark, giving the blossoms a soft glow; the Yonago City Tourism Association says they are lit from 18:30 to 20:00. The festival generally runs from late March into early April, though the dates can shift with the bloom. Stroll under the flowers by day, then come back to see them by lantern light. Open flames and generators are banned in the park to protect the trees, and there are no trash bins, so take your rubbish home with you.
