About
Nagai's Ayame Park is one of Japan's leading iris gardens, with several hundred varieties blooming across 3.3 hectares. It is also the only place to see the Nagai Koshu, a group of heirloom irises found nowhere else. The iris festival runs every year from mid-June to early July, with an opening ceremony, black lion dance performances, evening openings and a sketching contest among the events. Iris seedlings are on sale, and toward the end, cut irises from the garden go on sale too. An admission fee applies.
