About

Eboshiyama Park, right in the hot-spring town of Akayu, is counted among Japan's 100 best cherry blossom spots. Around a thousand trees earn it the name Eboshiyama Senbonzakura, and it is one of Japan’s notable stands of Edo-higan cherries. When the whole hill turns pink, the view is superb from up close or from afar. Through the festival the trees are lit up after dark, giving a very different, romantic view from the daytime. Local food fairs and a stamp rally run alongside, and on festival weekends free buses have run from JR Akayu Station. The festival closes once the blossoms have fallen.
