About
Sobue, a district of Inazawa with over 11,000 ginkgo trees, holds this festival when the leaves turn gold. Start at Sobue Ginnan Park: stroll the ginkgo-lined path, then climb the observation tower to look out over a sea of yellow. Between Yusen-ji Temple and Meitetsu Yamazaki Station you can find trees more than 200 years old and the parent tree of the Kuju ginkgo variety. After dark the park's trees are illuminated (except on the final day). Over 260,000 people came the year before. The festival runs in light rain but is cancelled in a storm. Yamazaki Station on the Meitetsu Bisai Line is right next to the grounds, so the train is the easiest option. It is organized by a local festival committee.
