About

A winter tradition that lights up the area from Aomori Station to the bayfront. The stars are the Yukidarumaru, washi-paper snowmen handmade by local residents using the same techniques as Aomori's famous Nebuta festival floats. Their soft glow through the paper warms the bay area with a light quite unlike ordinary illuminations, and with every snowman wearing a different face and pattern, it is fun simply to stroll among them and pick a favorite. They line the area around JR Aomori Station and A-FACTORY, and more decorate the Shinkansen concourse at Shin-Aomori Station. The lights shine from late afternoon into the evening.
