About
This three-day autumn festival takes place in the Kenyoshi district of Nanbu Town. On the opening day, known as Otori, and the closing day, Okaeri, a procession led by kagura sacred music from Suwa Shrine winds through the streets, followed by the portable shrine and lively local performing arts such as the gongen-mai dance. The shrine travels between the upper town and its temporary resting place, joined by a parade of young children. Floats roll through the district together and on their own until late evening, and local school bands and a community wind orchestra add music and parades. A festival square and a children's area make it easy to enjoy with family. Some streets near the venue close to traffic or parking at certain times. Kenyoshi Station on the Aoimori Railway is about a three-minute walk away.
