About
Rooted in prayers for a good harvest that go back to the pioneering days of the Sanbongi plain, this is Towada's big autumn festival, held over three days. On the afternoons of the first and last days, dancers, portable shrines, parades and floats make their way together along Sanbongi Odori. On the middle day, the floats are lined up for display on Kanchogai-dori and local groups compete in Towada hayashi festival music. From late afternoon, the floats roll through the streets at twilight and into the night. Food stalls line the sidewalks of Kanchogai-dori throughout, and local businesses set up a market in the central parking lot. The festival is organized by Towada City, the Towada Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Towada Oirase tourism organization.
