About
Kyonan is a narcissus town, counted among Japan's three great areas where the flowers grow wild in masses. In flowering season, a narcissus festival is held along the Egatsu Suisen Road and at Okuzure Suisenkyo, where roadside stands sell local produce and cut flowers. Strolling unhurried among the delicate blooms is the main pleasure. At Sakuma Dam Lake you can also see narcissus lit up at night. The most recent season, 2025–2026, ran from early December to February 1. The Egatsu Suisen Road is roughly 15 minutes on foot from Hota Station on the JR Uchibo Line; for Okuzure, ride the town loop bus from Hota or Awa-Katsuyama Station and get off at Okuzure.
