About
In the village of Hinoemata, kabuki is performed as an offering to the gods on the day of the spring shrine festival. The plays are staged at the Hinoemata Stage, a stage hall in the grounds of the village's guardian shrine that is designated an Important Tangible Folk Cultural Property of Japan, so you see kabuki as part of a village festival rather than a theater show. Spring here is still chilly, so dress warmly. Temporary parking is set up on the day, and the Oze Hinoemata Onsen Tourism Association can answer questions.
