About
When the hydrangeas bloom, the Itadori area of Seki opens its Ajisai (Hydrangea) Village. The road along the Itadori River, about 24 km long and known as the Hydrangea Road, is lined with some 70,000 plants and was chosen as one of Japan's 100 best roads. Add about 30,000 at Itadori 21st Century Forest Park and the area has roughly 100,000 hydrangeas in all. During the season there is a food lane, plus outdoor fun such as catching amago trout by hand and bike trials over obstacles, and one weekend brings a festival at a special venue in the forest park. By car it is about 50 minutes from Mino IC on the Tokai-Hokuriku Expressway.
