About
Ikuchijima Island, home of Setoda and said to be the birthplace of lemon growing in Japan, holds a festival where the lemon is the star. There are food stalls with lemon dishes and stage events, but the real fun is a lineup of offbeat contests open to anyone: building the tallest tower of lemon peel, eating a whole lemon as fast as you can, and a timed race carrying lemons. Visitors can also help make one very long sushi roll together. For a day, the whole island goes lemon yellow.
