About
The Nagoshi Festival in the old port of Murotsu, in Tatsuno, took place on July 25 and 26 in 2026. It ends on the second evening with the boat send-off, when boats head out for a ritual in the harbor, with some fireworks; earlier that day the festival floats are paraded out from late morning. On the first day, drummers make the rounds of the town by day, the festival moves into the shrine grounds at night, and a lion dance is offered at Kamo Shrine toward midnight. Held every July to pray for safety at sea, a good catch and protection from disease, it follows a schedule whose times are approximate. The Murotsu tourist car park is available, but spaces are limited.
