About
Chrysanthemums fill the grounds of Daiho Hachimangu in Shimotsuma for this show, run by the Shimotsuma Chrysanthemum Society with support from the city and its tourism association. The shrine is an ancient one, regarded as the oldest Hachiman shrine in the Kanto region. The flowers on display have been carefully raised over a full year. The theme changes each year, and highlights include chrysanthemum dolls and works shaped like a five-storey pagoda or a Japanese garden. Because the show overlaps with Shichi-Go-San, the season of shrine visits for young children, families coming to pray for their kids can celebrate surrounded by blooms.
