About
Every May, two Komatsu shrines, Uhashi Shrine and Motoori Hiyoshi Shrine, hold their spring grand festival together. The city centre becomes the stage, and children perform kabuki on top of the hikiyama floats, throwing themselves into their roles. After sunset comes the hikiyama hikizoroe, when the floats are lined up and lit so that they shine gold, a sight not to be missed; paid seats are sometimes set up for it. Everything is within walking distance of Komatsu Station, so it is easy to get around even if you come by train.
