About
Wajima's winter festival is a chance to experience the city's food and craftsmanship as it recovers. In 2026 it was held in 2 places: at events around Wajima itself and at a satellite event in Kanazawa. At the Kanazawa Central Tourist Information Center, the Wajima-nuri Arigato Ichi market sold Wajima lacquerware and offered demonstrations and hands-on sessions with maki-e artisans. In Wajima, the Wajima Morning Market thanksgiving took place at the Yasusaki Y Plaza Wajima store, where the market is currently trading, with celebratory taiko drumming and free hot pot made from local produce. A digital stamp rally on your smartphone guides you to lacquerware shops and restaurants that have reopened, letting you see scenes from before the earthquake layered over today's streets.
