About
Yokohama's port opened in 1859, and this citizens' festival celebrates it by the water at Rinko Park, Minato Mirai 21, the Shinko district and nearby. Its title, Thanks to the Port, sums up the idea: celebrate the opening and say thank you to the harbor. The festival closes Yokohama Port Opening Month, which stretches from Golden Week to Port Opening Day on June 2. Its 45th edition in 2026 took the sub-theme of good fortune coming to a smiling port, hoping the smiles of people gathered there would spark new connections and kindness. It is run by a council of the City of Yokohama, the Yokohama Chamber of Commerce, the city tourism association and the Yokohama Junior Chamber.
