About
Hitoyoshi's summer fireworks rank among the biggest in Kumamoto Prefecture. Roughly 5,000 shells go up from Nakagawara Park, and since the viewing area at the history plaza on the Hitoyoshi Castle ruins sits close to the launch site, the large bursts bloom almost straight overhead. What makes it special is the combination of fireworks above the castle ruins and their colors shimmering on the river below. In stormy weather the show is postponed.
