About
For a pair of summer days, central Yokkaichi turns over to its festival. The first is dance day: a flower-laying ceremony at the statue of Inaba San'emon near JR Yokkaichi Station is followed by the Dai-Yokkaichi Parade and a dance festival on Mitaki-dori Avenue, with children's Suwa taiko drumming too. The next day is devoted to local cultural properties and traditional performing arts, letting you watch Yokkaichi's festival floats and nerimono performances up close, mainly along Mitaki-dori. At the Suwa Shrine venue there are firefighters' ladder-climbing stunts and a daimyo procession, and on both days Suwa taiko groups face off on the Fureai Mall stage. Festival play areas and a community bon dance are set up at the Civic Park and elsewhere. It is about 10 minutes on foot from Kintetsu Yokkaichi Station, and there is no parking at the venue.
