About

Minamisanriku's summer festival is held in front of the temporary Shizugawa fish market. Food stalls line the venue, and the stage features local high school bands and traditional performing arts handed down in the town, such as the Motohama Shichifukujin-mai dance of the Seven Lucky Gods and the Gyozanryu Mitobe Shishi-odori deer dance. There is also the Tokoyassai contest, where teams dance to shouts of "Tokoyassai, yassai!", and Octopus-kun makes an appearance on stage. The evening closes with taiko drumming and fireworks in the night sky. Temporary parking is set up around the venue, with a shuttle bus service.
