About
Each spring, Sunflower Hill in the Sanbongi district of Osaki turns bright yellow. For this festival the gently sloping 6-hectare hillside is covered in rapeseed blossoms, and the whole hill glows gold. During the festival, local specialties such as sunflower ice cream are sold on site, so you can enjoy a treat while taking in the view. For bloom updates, the city links to the nearby Michi-no-Eki Sanbongi Yamanami roadside station. There is parking for about 200 cars, with an operating contribution fee per vehicle. It is a simple, cheerful way to see the Miyagi countryside in spring.
