About

One of Sendai's best-loved winter traditions, this illumination wraps the zelkova trees of Jozenji-dori Avenue in LED lights, turning the boulevard between Sendai Mitsukoshi and Jozenji Garden Hills into a glowing tunnel. In 2025, its 40th year, about 480,000 LEDs lit 127 trees. The lights come on each evening and stay on even in bad weather, barring disasters. The event runs on green electricity from biomass power and offsets its greenhouse gas emissions. There is no parking at the site, so visitors are asked to come by public transport.
