About
Obama Onsen, a hot spring town in Unzen City, holds this spring festival to give thanks for the water that wells up from the ground. After a Shinto ceremony, a portable shrine and performers set out, and a parade makes its way through the streets of the spa town. At Obama Marine Park, local groups perform one after another on a stage, and the Yu Matsuri market brings food trucks and stalls, keeping the town lively throughout the day. You can watch the parade and then snack your way around the market, making a relaxed day of it. If it rains, the parade and stage events are cancelled. The Obama Onsen Ryokan Association organizes the festival and handles inquiries.
