About
Gojo's Yoshinogawa Matsuri takes over the riverbank near Okawa Bridge on a summer evening, and once darkness falls more than 4,000 fireworks burst over the Yoshino River. Nara Prefecture's travel guide counts it among the prefecture's bigger fireworks shows, and locally it is the event of the year. Lanterns hang along the bank and many people come in yukata. Around 100 food stalls trade from early afternoon into the night, so arriving in daylight gives you time to graze. It's roughly a 10-minute walk from JR Gojo Station; check the festival's official X account, run by Gojo City, for news on whether the fireworks go ahead.
