About

One of the largest summer festivals in Okayama Prefecture, Uraja spreads across many venues in central Okayama, from around JR Okayama Station to the Omotecho shopping arcade. The stars are dancers in demon makeup inspired by the local legend of the ogre Ura, performing their own Uraja routines all over the city. There is also a family festival for children and a drawing contest. At the "Uraja Collection," dance teams walk a runway so you can see their makeup and costumes up close. Admission is free. Some roads near the venues are closed to traffic during the festival.
