About
For three summer nights, the main street outside JR Bitchu-Takahashi Station fills with circles of dancers in Okayama Prefecture's largest Bon dance festival. The two dances done throughout, the Matsuyama Odori (local dance) and the Yatosa Odori, are open to all, and even first-timers are said to get hooked quickly. The festival has more than 350 years of history and is one of the prefecture's three great dances. The venue is just outside the station, so the train is easy; by car it is about 15 minutes from the Kayo exit of the Okayama Expressway, and parking is free. It is a way to spend a summer night in this castle town as part of the dance.
