About
On the second Sunday of November, the old post town of Yakage stages a daimyo procession. When the call "Shita-ni, shita-ni" ("Bow down!") is heard, a lord, a princess, a court physician, ladies-in-waiting and footmen come slowly into view along streets that still feel like the Edo period. More than 80 people in costume walk along Honjin-dori, and you can watch the lord depart from the honjin inn where he stayed. The footmen's spirited act is a highlight, and a clean toss of their feathered spears earns applause from the crowd. It is run by an executive committee based at the Bitchu-Nishi Chamber of Commerce.
