About
This spring festival opens the Villagers' Forest Azalea Garden in Higashi, a village in the north of Okinawa Island, and is run by the Higashi Village Azalea Festival Executive Committee. The garden is open only during the festival and closed the rest of the year, so the roughly three weeks of the festival are your only chance to visit. Hours are 9:00 to 17:00, with last entry at 16:00. Admission is 500 yen for high school students and older and free for junior high students and younger; groups of 15 or more pay 400 yen each. Holders of a disability certificate and the person accompanying them also get in free. The village publishes guidance for anyone hoping to bring a pet, and it has already announced the dates for its 45th edition.
