About
Taketomi Island's festival for purifying the land and beginning to sow seeds. The part to see is on the seventh and eighth of its ten days, when performing arts are offered to the gods at Yumochi Utaki, the island's sacred site; in 2026 those days are November 12 and 13. The festival opens on a kinoe-saru day and closes on a mizunoto-mi day of the traditional zodiac calendar, so its dates move every year.
