About
From January 9 to 11 each year, Kotoshironushi Shrine in Tokushima City holds its Ebisu festival. Locals call the shrine "Oibessan," and it is known as a place to pray for business success. The three days are Yoi-Ebisu (January 9), Hon-Ebisu (January 10) and Nokori-Ebisu (January 11), and people from across the prefecture come seeking luck for their businesses and families. Many go home with lucky bamboo branches or rakes hung with sea bream and treasure-chest charms, and stalls crowd the approach streets from 9:00 to 22:00. The shrine is in the city center, about 7 minutes on foot from JR Tokushima Station, and admission is free.
