About
As the cold season sets in, cooks gather in Tendo for a "peaceful battle fought with flavor instead of weapons" to decide the best hot pot of all. This food event began in 1996 and is now held as the Reiwa Nabe Gassen. It takes place on the multipurpose plaza of Wakuwaku Land at the Michi-no-Eki Tendo Onsen roadside station, where about 30 groups each serve their signature nabe. Visitors warm up from the inside as they sample their way around, and the top pot is crowned "Nabe Shogun." The venue is about a 20-minute walk from JR Tendo Station, and buses run from the station. It makes a cozy late-autumn day out.
