About
Yotsuzawagawa Erosion Control Park in Yatsushiro, Fuefuki, holds a firefly festival for a short season in early summer. Next to Yatsushiro Furusato Park, the park has a firefly channel about 1 km long that local residents have carefully tended and protected, and the soft lights of the fireflies drift above it. A slow walk along the water at night makes for a lovely moment with family or friends. Viewing is best from about 20:00 to 21:00. Cars park at the Linear Observatory lot; buses and other large vehicles use the Yatsushiro Furusato Park lot. It is about 10 minutes by car from the Fuefuki-Yatsushiro Smart Interchange on the Chuo Expressway.
