About
Oboshi Park in Fujikawa Town is the only place in Yamanashi chosen as one of Japan's 100 best cherry blossom spots. About 2,000 cherry trees flower in the park, and through the blossoms you can see Mount Fuji and the Yatsugatake range. The cherry blossom festival reached its forty-fifth year in 2026. While it runs, the trees are lit until 10 p.m., with the night view of the Kofu Basin spread out below, and after dark a light show set to music bathes the blossoms in color. Weekends bring stage events such as traditional dance and food from local shops, along with a free shuttle bus and temporary parking.
