About
Arimatsu, on the old Tokaido road in Nagoya's Midori Ward, celebrates its signature tie-dye, Arimatsu-Narumi shibori, a craft dating from the Edo period. The street fills with shibori goods, and it's a good chance to pick up a tie-dyed yukata or other pieces. You can also try techniques such as sekka (snowflake) and tekumo (hand-spider) shibori yourself and get a close look at the town's craft culture. It draws big crowds every year; in 2026 it held its 42nd edition. Meitetsu Arimatsu Station is about 5 minutes away on foot. Drivers are asked to park at the temporary lot at Odaka Ryokuchi Park and ride the free shuttle bus.
